Who can be a Registered Agent?

A registered agent must be:

  • Individual or business. An individual that is a resident of Alabama or a business entity registered to transact business in the State.
  • Office in Alabama. A registered office located in Alabama that can be personally served and is not solely a mailbox or telephone answering service.[2]

Yes, the organizer of a business can be the registered agent if they are an Alabama resident and have an office located in the State that can accept personal service.
